Thailand Surfing Championship 2023 to Take Place at Surin Beach, Phuket

The Thailand Surfing Association, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), the National Sports Development Fund, and various private sector partners, is organizing the highly anticipated “Thailand Surfing Championship 2023”. The event will be held at Surin Beach in Phuket Province from August 23rd to August 27th.

Surin Beach, known for its historical significance as a favored destination of the late King Rama IX, has been chosen as the venue. This picturesque stretch of coastline offers ideal conditions for surfers to showcase their skills.

The competition, a first of its kind organized by the Thai Surfing Association, promises to be an exciting showcase of talent and a celebration of the surfing community in Thailand. To mark the occasion, a paddling ceremony was held on August 26th under the guidance of Mr. Chanin.Irak, President of the Association. More than 70 Thai surfers and members of the Thai athlete club are participating in the championship.

The competition got off to an exhilarating start with strong winds and rain on the nights of August 26th and 27th. These weather conditions created larger waves, ranging from 2 to 3 feet, allowing surfers to demonstrate their full range of maneuvers. The men’s short board category saw Wasan Sarisai, last year’s champion, put up a fierce fight but ultimately finished in second place. Apinut Sriden secured the second place spot, while Nattakorn Sae-eiw claimed the third runner-up position.

In the female short board category, Anissa Thita Flynn emerged as the winner, followed by Lalana Sinsok as the runner-up and Chirapas Julsukon in second place. Teerayut Petsura claimed the top spot in the male longboard category, with Teerawat Banjerdlert coming in second, Weerawat Kuru in third, and Pattana Kritkunthod as the third runner-up. In the female longboard category, Suwaprapha Khambuddi secured the first position, Athitaya Chanprasert came in second, Banjarak Phromcharoen claimed third, and Suchada Thuethin finished as the third runner-up.
