Thanksgiving 2023: Northern Lights Visibility Across the US

Northern Lights Forecast for Thanksgiving

The northern lights, or aurora borealis, may be visible in parts of the United States this Thanksgiving. Reports indicate geomagnetic storms could increase visibility in specific regions.

1. Visibility Across the U.S.

   • Parts of the country may experience faint views of the northern lights. This is due to upcoming geomagnetic activity, which will enhance the chances of seeing the auroras.

2. Best States for Aurora Sightings

   • Certain states are more likely to witness the northern lights. Locations in northern regions generally have the best odds, especially during heightened geomagnetic activity.

3. Viewing in Major Cities

   • In cities like New York City, residents can also catch glimpses of the northern lights during Thanksgiving and Black Friday. However, light pollution may limit visibility.

4. Ohio Residents

   • People in Ohio are wondering if they can see the northern lights. Experts suggest that movement of geomagnetic storms will determine visibility.
5. Preparation for Sightings
   • To maximize the viewing experience, find dark areas away from city lights. Clear skies will also improve the chances of spotting the auroras.

This Thanksgiving offers a unique opportunity to witness the beauty of the northern lights. Keep an eye on the weather and geomagnetic reports to enjoy this natural display.
