In this review, we will discuss the assembly and painting process of this kit, which was released in 2007.

The painting process proved to be a challenge due to the extensive number of small pieces. To ensure a cohesive look, seemingly unrelated parts were painted side by side. The choice of colors, such as XC05 Sapphire Blue and C316 White FS17875, added a striking visual appeal to this model. Additionally, glossy finishes were used to highlight the shiny features of the Tellus in “Armored Core 4.”
Painting the various parts required meticulous attention to detail, but it also presented its fair share of difficulties. Managing the numerous small pieces and ensuring proper balance and weight distribution proved to be a complex task. However, as the core and arms were assembled, the model started to take shape, and the process became smoother.
The 1/72 Tellus model impresses with its detailed parts division and emphasis on intricate designs. The completed model showcases a striking separation of white and blue elements, accentuated by an increased presence of weapons. Although the high center of gravity poses some movement restrictions, the model withstands minor dislodgments thanks to immediate glue fixes.
Comparing the Tellus to the 1/72 White Grint, another model from the same series, reveals the evolution and improvements made over the years. The White Grint, released in 2017 and repainted in 2022, exhibits even more sophistication and enhanced flexibility, allowing for practical poses and gestures.
While the Tellus remains a remarkable model in terms of its details and color codes, it does have limitations. Its inability to connect to the flight base and the restricted range of motion hinder its assembly and overall functionality. Nevertheless, considering the comprehensive level of detail and the scarcity of alternatives, the price of 4,620 yen (tax included) seems reasonable.
The Tellus, released in 2007, perfectly mirrors the trends of its time, with manufacturers focusing on expanding the range of motion and adhering to color-coded parts. However, a better version that addresses the limited range of motion and offers support for the flight base would be a welcome improvement.
Overall, the 1/72 “Intellior Y01-TELLUS Tellus” plastic model kit is praiseworthy for its proportionate design, excellent color coding, and the inclusion of numerous weapons. On the downside, it falls short in terms of mobility, stability, and ease of assembly due to its heavy equipment and extensive part count.

A paint job with no end in sight
Well, the second part is the complete painting of 1/72 “Y01-TELLUS” including the removed joints. I would like to start by removing the seams, but since there are so many parts, it was difficult to think of the order. I wanted to remove the seams on the legs and arms, but since there are many parts, the legs are not easy to complete. -Medusa’s veins have been removed.
The red line is where the veins need to be removed.
What I noticed when I puttyed the seams and filled the gaps and started painting using the surfacer was that it would not be easy to complete without painting the many small pieces side by side.
Therefore, seemingly unrelated parts are also painted side by side. Since there are many small parts, you can’t expect to blow a shadow using a gray surfacer, so I decided to tint while preparing the base with a black surfacer (so called black startup). Also, for Tellus in “Armored Core 4”, we decided to use shiny paint or metallic colors because the shiny expression stands out.
So, we chose XC05 Sapphire Blue for the blue part and decided on C316 White FS17875 for the white part. Tellus mainly includes these two colors, but I chose C305 Gray FS36118 for some gray parts and C61 Burnt Iron color for the connecting parts. In addition, the blue part was painted with a black → gloss black → sapphire blue XC05 surfacer.
When it came to painting the parts, as there were a lot of small details, I was completely absorbed in painting the colors in any particular order, and proceeded mainly with the missile parts. I painted the parts out of order, so I didn’t take pictures of the progress, but since I can’t see the end, I can’t hide that I’m physically and mentally exhausted.
Furthermore, the summer heat stood in the way. Dangerous places due to heat One of the reasons for the difficulty was that the air conditioning could not be used due to the evacuation of the painting booth, and the gas mask made it difficult to breathe, so painting could only be done at night . the temperature did not rise.
However, during the long painting process, I was fortunate to understand that the kit included the addition of small pieces and that the center was the core part.
If only the outer parts are painted, there are many parts that must be stored separately, making it difficult to manage.
After painting this core part, things went smoothly, and at the timing when the core → both arms were assembled, finally it was more than half of the whole. After that, after removing the joints between the legs and the weapon, mask and paint to complete. Despite my tight schedule, I spent all my free time working on this kit, and when it was finally completed, I was overwhelmed with emotion.
The legs are also expressed by adding various things to the central parts.
A heavyweight package that convinces with overwhelming parts division and detail
Let’s take a look at the Tellus 1/72 after painting. On the whole, white and blue are separated, and the presence of weapons has increased, and fine details have become more emphasized.
However, since it is basically occupied by similarly colored parts, including the weapons, there is a sense of unity in the equipment even though it feels flashy.
The parts that fell off after disassembly were fixed with glue immediately, making them easier to handle.
However, it is a shame that although it contains great details, it is easy to fall back and forth due to the location of the center of gravity, so it cannot be moved very much. If this is true, if this was not a Tellus with heavy equipment, but the Tellus is like the starting unit of “Armored Core 4” and “Armored Core for Answer”, it might not have faced the problem of weapon weight balance. I. don’t think so.
After clearing “AC4” and “ACfa”, I think the armor is too special. Tellus’ early selectable “Armored Core 4” has many light weapons such as pulse guns
Next, let’s see it alongside the 1/72 White Grint built in 2017 and completely repainted by the end of 2022. The 1/72 White Grint is a kit developed after Tellus, so in addition to having a connection hole for the flying base, it has a wide range of motion and can take extremely practical poses.
The white glint is a different color between the OP and the in-game model. The color was painted with the OP version.
1/72 White Grint is even more sophisticated than 1/72 Tellus, and you can see that the 1/72 White Grint has made steady progress over the two years up to 2009, when the original kit was released.

The details of the 1/72 Tellus parts and proportions will still be valid in 2023, but given the limited range of offer and the inability to connect to the flight base, it will still be difficult to assemble in 2023. Price the 2018 resale is 4,620 yen (tax included), so looking at the details alone, the price seems appropriate.
From my point of view, from 2005 onwards it seemed that major manufacturers gradually started to release kits that sought to expand the range of motion and kits that followed color codes. Under such circumstances, you can understand that the Tellus released in 2007 is a package that follows the color codes of parts. Seals and decals were not included as proof.
Although it’s a structure where the seams don’t come out as much as possible, it appears to be a kit suitable for 2007 due to many parts being split. It’s a kit that makes you want a better version that changes the structure and composition of some parts to expand the range of motion and supports the flying base.
