A fire broke out in the 42-story building of China Telecom, a state-run news agency, in Changsha, Hunan Province, China around 3:30 pm on the 16th, China Central (CC) TV reported.

According to the video released by CCTV, the flames covered the entire building and spread to the upper floors, and black smoke rose.

A video was posted on social media where people working inside the building rushed out of the building through the stairs after the fire broke out.

The Chinese newspaper network reported that the local fire department dispatched 36 fire trucks and 280 firefighters to the scene, and the fire was extinguished in about an hour.

China Telecom said, “The fire occurred on the outer wall of the building and there were no injuries.”

According to local media, the mobile phones of some China Telecom subscribers were switched off after the fire started.

Built in 2000, the building is 218 meters high, 42 stories above ground and 2 stories underground, It is the first building in Changsha to be over 200 meters high.
