Seoul, South Korea – Popular YouTube personality Ziyang, boasting 8.67 million subscribers, has recently ignited a heated debate with his latest mukbang video of an 8 kg king crab. This controversial eating broadcast comes in the midst of growing concerns over Japan’s decision to release radioactively contaminated water into the ocean.

Ziyang, known for his extravagant mukbang videos, released a new episode titled “The fish market has been destroyed. Garak Market King Crab 8kg Mukbang” on his YouTube channel. The video showcases Ziyang’s visit to Garak Market in Songpa-gu, Seoul, where he purchased a colossal 4.6 kg red king crab, a 3.1 kg brown king crab, and 500g of scallops. The seafood haul alone equated to a staggering “16 servings”.

In the video, Ziyang is seen steaming and indulging in the two king crabs, expressing awe at their size, stating, “This is by far the biggest king crab I’ve ever encountered.” He proceeds to compare the taste of red and brown king crabs, finding them equally delectable. However, the scallops and abalone provided as a complimentary service were promptly discarded. To conclude the feast, Ziyang slurped down two bowls of ramen noodles.

Just last month, Ziyang faced sharp criticism for another mukbang video featuring shrimp and salmon paste. The timing of this video coincided with the heightened worries surrounding the consumption of seafood due to Japan’s controversial decision to release radioactively contaminated water into the ocean.

Public opinion on Ziyang’s seafood eating show remains divided. While many viewers rally behind him, praising his “patriotic mukbang,” others condemn him, cautioning against the consumption of seafood contaminated by radioactive waters. Some netizens have even pointed out Ziyang’s affiliation with Suntory, a prominent Japanese beverage company. Since its release on the 4th, Ziyang’s latest king crab mukbang video has garnered approximately 820,000 views.

They are both delicious.” Here too, the scallops and abalone received as a service were completely disposed of. To finish, I boiled and ate two ramen noodles.
