The Coptic Catholic Patriarch presides over the “General Lamp” prayers and the “Friday Closing of Lent” mass in the Cathedral of the Resurrection in Alexandria (photos)

Patriarch Bishop Ibrahim Ishaq, Patriarch of Alexandria for the Coptic Catholics, presided over the “General Lamp” prayers and the “Friday Closing of Lent” mass, at the Cathedral of the Resurrection, in Alexandria today, Friday, amid an intense popular presence.

Father Antonios Ghattas, Deputy General of the Coptic Catholic Patriarchate, and Father John George, Pastor of the Cathedral, participated in the prayers.

After the prayer, the Pope delivered a sermon on the Divine Sacrifice, saying: “We conclude the journey of the Holy Fortieth Lent, so that our journey towards Resurrection begins. Each one of us begins his journey towards himself, his family, and then society, congratulating all those present on the blessed holidays.”

In a related context, and under the slogan “For your sake I walked this path,” Father Antonius Alexander, General Commissioner of the Carmelite Order in Egypt, witnessed the Passion Hymn concert, in the Basilica of Saint Teresa of the Child Jesus, Shubra, yesterday evening, Thursday.

Bishop Krikor Augustine Koussa, the Armenian Catholic Bishop of Alexandria, Father Boulos Jars, pastor of the Coptic Catholic Cathedral of St. Anthony the Great, in Faggala, and Father Magdy Seif El-Yesoui, also participated in the ceremony. Father Makhoul Farha the Carmelite, Father Jack the Carmelite, Father Cyril Makar the Carmelite, and Fr.
