Known affectionately as “teddy” within the band’s inner circle, Bamonte’s association with The Cure began in 1984, initially as a roadie and technician, effectively “looking after the band” during a pivotal period in their history. He officially became a full-time member in 1990,contributing his talents on guitar,six-string bass,and keyboards to a string of acclaimed albums.
A Long and Dedicated Career with the Cure
Bamonte’s musical contributions graced five studio albums: Wish (1992),Wild Mood Swings (1996), Bloodflowers (2000),Acoustic Hits (2001), and The Cure (2004). He performed in over 400 shows with the band during his initial tenure, spanning from 1990 to 1996.
After a hiatus, Bamonte rejoined The Cure in 2022, revitalizing their live performances. He participated in approximately 90 shows with the band during his second stint, including what many fans and critics are calling some of their most dynamic and memorable concerts. This culminated in a highly acclaimed performance at the show of a Lost World concert in London on November 1, 2024.
