Additionally, agencies and psychiatric hospitals in the workers’ hometowns are being utilized to provide further support and surveillance of mental health problems. The department is also implementing a proactive approach by engaging with the local community and promoting the use of a “Check In Mental Health” system to self-assess and seek appropriate assistance.

Since the unrest began, the Department of Mental Health has conducted mental health screening for over 8,500 Thai workers returning from Israel. Emotional relief has also been extended to 22,759 individuals affected by the situation in Israel.

Looking ahead, Dr. Chumphat Promsida, Deputy Director General of the Department of Mental Health, revealed a proactive plan to implement a “heart vaccination” approach in the community.
