Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and Melinda Gates are legally divorced after 27 years of marriage.
CNBC reported this fact on the 2nd (local time) citing documents related to the divorce of the two people submitted to the Superior Court in King County, Washington.
The documents state that neither of them want to change their names, but they are not sure how things will change in the future, CNBC said.
Also, the fate of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which the two decided to run together after their divorce, is also not predictable. Last month, Melinda announced that she would resign from the foundation two years later if either of them didn’t want to.
Meanwhile, Bill Gates announced on Twitter on May 3 that he would divorce his wife, Merlanda.
“After a lot of hard work and a lot of effort to keep the relationship going, we’ve made the decision to end our marriage,” Bill and Melinda said in a joint statement at the time.
“Over the past 27 years, we’ve raised three incredibly good children together,” said Bill and Merlanda, “and founded a foundation that helps people around the world lead healthy and productive lives.”
“We will continue to share our beliefs in this mission and continue to work together at the Foundation, but I don’t think we can grow together as a couple in the next stage of our lives.”
“Now we will begin to sail a new life, and we ask that you give us the privacy and freedom of our own family.”
