It is worth noting that this is not the first time that reader Muhammad Al-Silkawi has made a mistake during his reading, as he has had several incidents, the most famous of which are:

The reader, Muhammad Al-Silkawi, sparked a state of controversy, in December 2022, after a video was monitored of him reciting verses from Surat Al-Shura and making gestures that do not befit the Book of God Almighty, which caused the Syndicate of Memorizers and Readers of the Holy Qur’an to take decisive decisions regarding Muhammad Al-Silkawi.

The union’s decisions against reader Muhammad Al-Selkawi, at the time, were as follows:

– Suspending the reciter Muhammad Al-Selkawi for a year, preventing his appearance on the air in the Friday and Fajr Qur’an, and preventing the broadcast of his recorded recitations, during the period from December 21, 2022 until December 21, 2023. The committee stressed that the reasons for the suspension of the reciter Muhammad Al-Selkawi came in view of what he did in reading the Qur’an. The noble manner and movements are inappropriate and inconsistent with the sanctity of the Book of God, in addition to his lack of proficiency in the Tajweed rulings.

The Friday prayer rituals on December 29, 2023 also witnessed the Friday Quran reciter, Sheikh Muhammad Hamid Al-Selkawi, forgetting verses from the Qur’an during the broadcast of the Friday prayer rituals. This came in the presence of Dr. Mukhtar Gomaa, Minister of Endowments, Dr. Shawqi Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, and Major General Adel Al-Ghadhban, Governor of Port Said.

Egyptian Radio announced that Sheikh Muhammad Al-Selkawi stopped reciting it and removed his name from the map of foreign radio stations and Qur’anic recordings for a period of 6 months, due to the mistake he made during the Friday Qur’an recitation from Al-Hussein Mosque in the Al-Manakh neighborhood in Port Said Governorate.
