The first investigation by the prosecutors after the arrest of ‘Lee Jae-myung’s closest aide’ Kim Yong

Prosecutors are conducting the first investigation after the arrest of Kim Yong, deputy director of the Institute for Democracy, who is a close aide to Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea.

The 3rd Anti-Corruption Investigation Department of the Seoul Central Prosecutors Office arrested Deputy Director Kim yesterday and went into a day of respite, and today Deputy Director Kim is called in to investigate.

Deputy director Kim is accused of receiving 847 million from lawyer Nam Wook, the developer of Daejang-dong, together with Yoo Dong-gyu, the former head of the Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, the former presidential primary of the Democratic Party last year, and Lee Jae- election funds presidential myung.

Prosecutors believe former general manager Yoo spent 100 million of this money, and another 100 million was returned to former general manager Yoo by deputy director Kim when allegations of corruption emerged in Daejang -dong last year.

Prosecutors plan to intensively investigate Vice Director Kim’s use of the remaining funds during the up to 20-day detention period.

Prosecutors also believe that Vice Chairman Kim had a relationship with the Daejang-dong gang since he was a member of Seongnam City in the past, and suspect that more money could be received as bribes.

In addition, the prosecution secured a statement that it delivered 50 million won to Yoo and Jeong Jin-sang, director of the Democratic Party’s political affairs coordination office, another close aide to Lee, and is expected to also investigate Chung.

Director Jeong said, “It’s a fiction not worth thinking about.”
