The Future of Blockchain Games and Token Economy: Wemade’s Strategic Shift Towards North America

Wemade Chairman Park Kwan-ho highly evaluated the potential of the blockchain game ‘Night Crow’ through a conference call on the 8th. In addition, it was announced that they internally evaluate the economic structure of the Wemix token which is implemented through the ‘Wemix’ coin and that they intend to develop it further. He also said that he is focusing on the game platform Wemix Play and the community platform WePublic and he plans to explain this and reveal a specific vision in the second half of the year.

There are four main points that Chairman Park emphasized at this conference. ▲ Target the North American market instead of China ▲ Exclude probability items ▲ Change the structure of the token economy ▲ WePublic community platform, etc. First, the reason why the North American market was mentioned instead of China is because the Chinese market is too risky, so even if you think of business plans and strategies, you cannot find a clear answer. Wemade has received and is currently receiving many sales from China, and has a program scheduled for Chinese service within this year. However, the Chinese market has complicated political relationships, so one company cannot solve Chinese issues. Accordingly, Wemade is turning its attention to North America rather than the Chinese market. The probability items sector is also in line with entering the North American market. Countries where probability items are an important part of the game system are only used in certain areas, such as Korea and China. The new work intends to reduce random items and try to go to foreign markets.

They also announced plans to further develop the token economic structure built on blockchain games in the future. Currently, the ‘Nike Crow’ ticket economy is designed with a fixed price of Crow tickets, but it is planned to change to a structure where the price increases in new works, etc. Chairman Park added that there is an exchange that includes these game tokens within the Wemix platform, but the possibility is high as the token exchange is continuously active.

C: When will the games ‘Mir 4’ and ‘Mir M’ be released in China and when will the license plate for ‘Mir 4’ be published? What are the characteristics of the new work ‘Mir 5’?
A: Let me start with your business strategy in China. Although sales in China are high at this point, overall global sales are increasing. The Chinese market has many risks. There is a reason why China is not mentioned separately in the business plan. Risks always exist in Chinese business. As for the issue, it’s hard to say the timing. The China plate issue is more of an international political problem than the company’s efforts. So we put China as a variable in our business plan. Also, there are many problems with probability items and such game systems do not work globally. The new work ‘Mir 5’ develops a new business model by reducing probability items. I almost never intend to do it. And while implementing a virtual asset token exchange, I saw the potential for the global market. This may not seem like a great achievement from the outside, but from an internal standard, it is not. Based on this, the form of virtual assets in games will change significantly in the future. Change the game to acquire and trade items. There is a possibility. Ultimately, our goal is to succeed in the North American market.

C: The worldwide version of ‘Night Crow’ achieved the biggest results ever. What are the characteristics and direction of the economic structure of this game’s coin in the future?
A: It’s still trial and error. During ‘Mir 4’, we had expectations about the possibilities in the market. ‘Night Crow’ is rated as deficient. There are still many internal plans. I would like to say that I go through trial and error. The future direction is not planned to increase the price of ‘Crow Token’. I think that if a game becomes popular, the tickets in the game should go up. The economy of these tokens affects the game. Game users enter the game expecting a token profit. There are many users who say that the game is fun even if they don’t make much money. It also has a positive effect on marketing. It is better to design it in a way that the ticket price increases. Wemix Play has not grown into a platform yet, but it is in the initial stages. The success of ‘Night Crow’ was due to the large number of users that came from the beginning. The power of the Wemix Play platform has increased. Of course, the coin economy is included. In addition, the costs were deemed excessive due to the large amount of outsourcing for cost efficiency. It is policy to turn this in. In some cases, communication (server) costs are excessive. Wemix Play conducts its own planning and development to reduce payment fees. There will be a significant reduction in the cost of selling. I invested a lot with the ‘Wemix’ coin. We focus on two things: the Wemix Play platform and the WePublic community. WePublic plans to announce its vision at an event in the second half of the year.

C: There are a series of FPS games on the console platform What’s the difference?
A: We are preparing an FPS game, and there is a point that we think sets us apart. Many real combat situations, such as trench warfare and urban warfare, were transmitted via YouTube. Current FPS games are a product of imagination, but we prepare in a realistic style that gives the feeling of a battlefield. The look and feel is serious and heavy, but the play is fun and light.

C: I’m curious about the sales status of ‘Night Crow’ in the second quarter and the share of PC and mobile phone sales.
A: In general, games tend to have a lot of payouts at the beginning and are stable in the second quarter. Personally, I am dissatisfied with the strategy of increasing sales at the beginning of the service. Sales of ‘Nike Crow’ in the second quarter are naturally good and it is expected to have a much better lifespan than the Korean version. The sales generated from this game on PC is higher. In particular, it is not disclosed externally.
