The government has modified the national grid for assessing the needs of the elderly

According to the Ministry of Labour, the Government approved on Wednesday a decision by which “some changes are made to HG no. 886/2000 for the approval of the national grid for assessing the needs of the elderly, as a result of the changes made during this period in the legislation regulating the national social assistance system, respectively social assistance for the elderly.”

These are changes related to the assessment of the assisted person.

“In accordance with the provisions of the Social Assistance Law no. 292/2011, the amendments provide that the evaluation of functional autonomy is carried out, as a rule, at the person’s home, by a mobile team of evaluators, and in the case of people assisted in health units with beds, the evaluation can also be carried out at the patient’s bed, at the request of the doctor current or of the social worker employed by the hospital. At the same time, it was decided that the socio-medical assessment form must also exist in the file of the elderly person who requests care in a day care and recovery center”, the Ministry of Labor announced.

The document adopted by the Executive is part of a package of normative acts that “establish a sustainable mechanism for ensuring the long-term care of elderly people, with priority at home and in day care and recovery centers.”

By implementing these measures, the aim is to facilitate the access of dependent elderly people to appropriate social services, to be granted according to their real needs, based on a complete assessment. Also, the efficiency of the planning and financing of social services is also being considered, so that the financing is done per beneficiary, regardless of the provider of social assistance services, and the approach is personalized and integrated according to the profile of each elderly person, he specified Ministry of Labour.
