During the Korean War in the 1950s, dozens of color photographs of the lives of Koreans and veterans were released in Paris.

It was taken by a French soldier who fought in the Korean War at the time.

The picture was taken against the background of a ragged looking rural thatched house, so the children’s colorful hanbok are more impressive.

A woman carrying a baby on her back.

A woman standing with her son in her arms.

The round shape of the pan standing side by side was also unique enough to draw a picture in the eyes of strangers.

A time when there was nothing left of the war.

The walls of the castle through which the carriages pass have already collapsed, and only the rare arches hold their shape.

André Datchari from France, who took part in the Korean War, revealed for the first time in Paris about 20 photos he took while traveling around Korea at the time.

“You come to realize that life goes on even in war. It’s nice to see a different perspective on war without exposing the weapons or the wounded.”

The daily life of French veterans was also captured in the lens.

A large ‘Paris’ poster was placed in one corner of the barracks to remember their hometown, and sometimes they spent time playing cards.

Resting under the eaves, we could not avoid the curious eyes of the children.

Veterans and their families said they felt proud and rejuvenated when they saw Korea, which had been turned into ruins by war more than 70 years ago, rise to the ranks of developed countries.

″(For my husband) I heard it was a very hard war until the end. My husband is not in the world, but I think he will be delighted. You are here today because they fought.”

The exhibition will be held at the Korean Cultural Center in Paris until the 23rd of next month.

Veterans in their 90s who participated in this event expressed their wish to be buried in Busan along with their comrades who had gone before.
