The Indian captain and opener made it to the ICC women’s player list

Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur and opener Smriti Mandana have made it to the ICC Women’s Player of the Year list for September. Harman became the top scorer in the ODI series against England.

India swept the series 3-0 under the leadership of Harmanpreet. It marked India’s first series win in England since 1999.

Harman, the top scorer with 221 runs, also managed to maintain an excellent strike rate of 103.27. He scored an unbeaten 74 in the first ODI and scored an unbeaten 143 in the second match. This is Harman’s highest individual score in ODIs.

Smriti Mandana was the second highest run scorer in the series against England. Indian vice-captain Smriti Mandana was second behind Harman with 181 runs in the match. Smriti scored 181 runs including two fifties.

Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana is the third player on the list. In the Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier held in the UAE, Nigar was the second highest run-getter in the tournament with 180 runs as Bangladesh were crowned champions.

Earlier, Indian all-rounder Axar Patel was shortlisted to become the ICC Player of the Year for the month of September. Apart from Aksar, Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan and Australian all-rounder Cameron Green are on the list.

Axer’s performance was shortlisted because of his brilliant performance in the T20 series against Australia and South Africa.
