Hwang Sang-moo, Senior Secretary of the President of the Civil Society, had a meal with reporters including MBC today.

Commenting on various pending issues, Chief Hwang brought up a story about his time in the military while commenting on the Kim Shin-jo group’s attack on the Blue House and the Panmunjom ax atrocity incident.

After saying, “Listen to MBC,” he said, “I worked at the Information Agency, and in 1988, a reporter for the Economic Daily was stabbed twice in the thigh at Hyundai Apartment in Apgujeong.”

The incident mentioned by Chief Hwang was that reporter Oh Hong-geun, who was the head of the social affairs department of an economic newspaper, was attacked in front of his house by assailants in the morning of August 1988. Reporter Oh was attacked with a raw knife cut and to his thighs 4 cm deep and more than 30 cm long The injury was so severe that he was torn to pieces.

As a result of the investigation, it was revealed that the gunmen were active duty soldiers belonging to the Military Intelligence Command and had received orders from their superiors who were dissatisfied with Reporter Oh’s column criticizing the military .

This is what is known as the ‘Intelligence Agency Hoekal Terrorist Incident’.

Chief Officer Hwang spoke about this incident and said that it meant that writing articles critical of the government at the time became a problem.

Previously, the President’s Office did not deny reports that it was a ‘political operation’ colluded by the Corruption Investigation Bureau, the opposition, and left-wing media regarding the controversy surrounding Ambassador Lee Jong-seop.

When asked, ‘Why did you tell MBC to listen carefully?’, Chief Hwang laughed and said it was a joke, and added a request to ‘not report information.’

Senior Hwang is a former KBS reporter who took up the position of senior civil society official in the President’s Office at the end of last year.

Chief Hwang also said in relation to the May 18th Democracy Movement, “Even if we continue to break it up, it will regroup 4 to 5 times in one night. Ordinary citizens cannot organize like that unless someone trained.”

He then mentioned the possibility of North Korean involvement, saying, “There may be suspicions that someone is behind it,” but concluded, “However, you should not make allegations if there is no evidence.”

In response to questions about the circumstances of his comments, Principal Hwang repeatedly explained that he was joking, saying that he was saying that something like that had happened in the past.
