The Liverpool-Chelsea final heads to two extra halves after 90 minutes without goals

The confrontation between the Liverpool team, which includes the professional Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, and its counterpart Chelsea, went into extra time after normal time ended in a scoreless draw in the match held at Wembley Stadium, in the final match of the English League Cup, the Carabao Cup.

Liverpool’s lineup against Chelsea was as follows:

Chelsea vs Liverpool

Liverpool coach Klopp excluded Egyptian star Mohamed Salah from Liverpool’s squad against Chelsea in today’s final due to his injury, in addition to Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez.

The Liverpool team qualified for the final match of the current edition of the English League Cup, after defeating the Fulham team, in the semi-finals, with a score of 3-2 on aggregate, while Chelsea reached, at the expense of the Middlesbrough team, with a score of 6-2 on the aggregate of the two home and away matches.

Liverpool has the record for winning the Carabao Cup, with 9 titles, the last of which was during the 2021-2022 season, while Chelsea won the championship 5 times, the last of which was in the 2014-2015 season, while Manchester United was the champion of the last edition of the tournament.

Egyptian star Mohamed Salah is waiting to win his eighth title with Liverpool in various competitions, as he won the English League Cup on two occasions, with a title with both Liverpool and Chelsea.

The Reds enter tonight’s match with a long list of injuries, which puts the team’s coach, Jurgen Klopp, in a big dilemma, as he is missing many of his stars such as Alisson, Jota, Doc, Jones, Trent, Matip, Becic and Thiago Alcantara.

The two teams faced off in the final match of the English League Cup on two occasions, the first in 2005, and Chelsea succeeded in winning the title by three goals to two, and Liverpool won the title of the 2022 edition, at the expense of Chelsea, on penalties, with a score of 11-10.
