The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is not a restoration of the old main building of the Blue House… model making

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said, “It is not a restoration of an actual building,” when criticisms were raised from opposition parties and others in relation to the restoration of the model of the former Blue House, which was used as the residence of the former governor-general of Joseon.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a statement on the 22nd and said, “We have considered making a small model (miniatures) to guide visitors to what they looked like 30 years ago.”

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Park Bo-gyun said in a business report on the 21st that he would promote the restoration of the model on the site of the former main building as part of the Blue House utilization plan.

The former main building, completed in 1939, was used as the official residence of the Governor-General of Joseon and as the residence of the commander of the US military for three years after liberation.

At that time, former President Kim ordered to demolish the former main building along with the Government-General of Korea building in order to restore national pride and national regularity.

Shin Hyun-young, spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Korea, said in a commentary on the 22nd, “I am concerned that the model of the Central Office, which was the government-general of Joseon, will also be restored.”

Rep. Jeon Jae-soo of the same party also criticized the social networking service, saying, “We should check who is thinking about what is going on with the restoration through a question from the government.”
