The Ministry of Labor announces Eid al-Fitr holiday for private sector workers from April 9 to 14

The Minister of Labor, Hassan Shehata, announced today, Thursday, that from Tuesday, April 9, 2024, until Sunday, April 14, an official paid holiday, on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, for workers in the private sector who are subject to the provisions of Labor Law No. 12 of 2003, provided that Sunday, April 14, 2024, is counted from the annual leave balance of the worker in the private sector.

An official statement from the Ministry of Labor said today that this decision comes in light of the text of Prime Minister’s Resolution No. 1112 of 2024, issued yesterday, Wednesday, which stipulates in its first article that: “The period from Tuesday, April 9, until Sunday, April 14, shall be a paid official holiday.” Wages for workers in ministries, government departments, public bodies, local administration units, public sector companies, and public business sector companies, on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

The Ministry of Labor statement stressed that this comes within the framework of ensuring unification of official holiday dates for all employees in the various sectors of the state – whenever possible – in order to achieve the social and national purpose of official holidays on holidays and occasions and to share the celebration with family and friends, and the Ministry of Labor distributed a circular to that effect to the labor directorates.
