Yamiq indicated in statements to Al-Riyadiah newspaper that he preferred joining Al-Wahda over the offers of Al-Ahly and the other Saudi duo, Al-Riyadh and Al-Taie, in addition to some Spanish, Russian, and Qatari offers.
The Moroccan defender explained that he chose unity; Because of its great history, in addition to the fact that many Moroccan stars played in its ranks previously, and the club’s headquarters are located in Mecca, which allows it to be close to “Al-Haram.” It is what he dreamed of all his life.
On the other hand, Jawad Yamiq admitted his love for Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo, the striker of the first team of the Saudi Al-Nassr club, describing him as the best in the world.
Yamiq narrated the scenes of his meeting with Ronaldo, in the 2022 World Cup. He said: “We had a match in the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar, and during one of the periods when play stopped, I approached him and put my hand on his shoulder and said to him, ‘I adore you and I am a big fan of yours. I never dreamed of seeing you or playing in front of you, but when I play for a national team… My country, I will not leave you anywhere on the field without close supervision. He responded with a slight smile and indicated that he admired what I told him.”
