The decision was made following the favorable votes from the ordinary session of the cardinals and bishops members of the Dicastery for the Causes of the Saints, supporting the canonization of José Gregorio Hernández and Bartolo Longo. The Vatican’s decision comes after years of devotion and interest in Hernández’s legacy, particularly among the Venezuelan people, who have long awaited this recognition.
