The Price of Luxury: The Expensive Trend of Mango Shaved Ice in Hotels

[앵커]
The mango shaved ice sold in hotels is popular, but expensive.

Shilla Hotel, famous for its mango apple shaved ice, raised its price again this year, surpassing the won range of 100,000.

This is because mango prices have risen, and it has been confirmed that, starting this year, prices have risen even though mangoes from the southern region, which are cheaper than those from Jeju, have been used.

The price of mango shaved ice, which has been increasing every year for the past three years, has been raised again this year.

The price is 102,000 won.

It is 4,000 more expensively earned than last year.

The hotel explained that they are raising the price because of the increase in mango prices.

However, as a result of Channel A’s coverage, it was confirmed that mangoes from the southern region, which are relatively cheaper than those from Jeju, are being sold together starting this year.

“Until last year, we only demanded products from Jeju, but starting this year, we mixed some products from Jeju with mangoes from inland regions.”

The explanation is that the country of origin was bifurcated to ensure a stable supply of apple mangoes.

Until today, 3 kg of special product costs apple mango 180,000 won on farms in Haman, Gyeongsangnam-do and 200,000 won on farms in Jeju, won about 20,000 more expensive than in the southern region.

“Delivery is possible immediately on land.

We’ve been marketing it as the original Jeju Apple Mango Bingsu, but this year we even quietly removed the word ‘Jeju’ from the menu.

“I think there are a lot of people coming here because they recognize that he is from Jeju I feel bad.”

“I eat it because I trust it, but it feels like a bit of a fraud.”

As the price of domestic mangoes rises, some big hotels are also increasing the price of shaved ice, with some more than 130,000 won.

Signiel Seoul sells it for 130,000 won, up 2.4% from last year, and Four Seasons Hotel sells it for 126,000 won.
