The back door of a plane flying in the sky of Siberia, Russia has been opened.

According to the New York Post and local Russian media, on the 9th (local time), the rear door of the Antonov (AN)-26 aircraft, which took off from Magadan, Yakutia, Siberia, and was heading for the Magadan region in the North Russian Far East, was opened. There were 25 passengers and 6 crew members on board at the time.

Shortly after takeoff, when the rear door suddenly opened, the pressure in the cabin dropped and even minus 41 degrees Celsius of Siberian air began to flow in. In the process, bags near the back door were blown out.

In a video taken at the time of the crash shared on Twitter, passengers took off hats and gloves and crouched down when the back door of the plane opened and cold air came in.

Immediately after the accident, the pilot returned to the take-off point and made an emergency landing. Fortunately, it was confirmed that all the residents were safe.

A passenger who boarded the plane said in an interview with the local media, “All the passengers were terrified when the back door suddenly opened, and some of them were crying.” “One passenger who was sitting at the back of the plane almost flew out.” .

Local media speculate that the installation of faulty parts rather than genuine parts on the plane caused this accident. Russian aviation authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.

The AN-26 is a military transport and cargo aircraft developed and operated by the Soviet Union in the 1970s. However, as production ceased in 1986 and the Soviet Union, the main development body, collapsed, aircraft maintenance and repair became difficult, causing both major and minor accidents.
