New Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Measures Introduced for Non-Occupational Cases by the Medical Committee

In a recent announcement published on October 19, 2023, the Royal Gazette website revealed updates made by the Medical Committee under the Social Security Act concerning health promotion and disease prevention criteria and rates for alternative benefits. These measures specifically address accidents or illnesses that are not work-related.

The Medical Committee has deemed it necessary to revise the principles and rates for health promotion and disease prevention in non-occupational cases. One key advancement is the provision of influenza vaccinations to insured individuals, greatly contributing to the prevention of the flu’s spread. This decision was made during the 7th meeting of the Medical Committee on August 9, 2023, and received approval from the Social Security Committee (Set No. 13) on August 22, 2023.

According to Section 15(2) and Section 63 of the Social Security Act BE 2533 (1990), as amended by the Social Security Act (No. 4) BE 2015, the Medical Board, in conjunction with the Social Security Board’s endorsement, has officially issued the following announcement:

Announcement Details:

  1. This announcement will be in effect from September 1, 2023, onwards.
  2. The Medical Board’s publication is amending Clause 2/2 by introducing (3/2) and (3/3) as per the Social Security Act’s criteria and rates for health promotion and disease prevention in non-occupational cases. These amendments, dated December 16, 2016, and December 9, 2020, respectively, aim to create more comprehensive benefits.
    • (3/2) The influenza vaccination period for 2023 has been extended until December 31, 2023, following the guidelines outlined in (3).
    • (3/3) In 2024, individuals will be entitled to receive health promotion and disease prevention services, such as the flu vaccine, between May 1 and December 31.

This significant update was officially published on September 1, 2023.

Article 1 This announcement comes into force from 1 September 2023 onwards.

(3/2) Extending the period for vaccination against influenza for the year 2023 in accordance with (3) until 31 December, 2023.

(3/3) In 2024, the right to receive health promotion and disease prevention services. In the case of a flu vaccine
