Sudanese government forces and the paramilitary organization Rapid Support Force (RSF) continued to fight fiercely for the sixth day, with the death toll exceeding 300.
According to AFP on the 20th (local time), the World Health Organization (WHO) calculated the cumulative death toll to 330 and the number of injured to more than 3,200 since the conflict began on the 15th. “At least nine children are known to have died,” UNICEF said.
Sudanese government forces and the RSF announced that they had agreed to a third ceasefire the day before under pressure from the international community, but the fighting continues even after that. Both sides are fighting fiercely around the Ministry of Defense building in Khartoum, where the military headquarters is located, and near the Khartoum International Airport.
In central Khartoum, many hospitals were caught up in the fighting. As a result, up to 70% of hospitals in Khartoum and surrounding areas are closed, and there are fears that the death toll could be much higher than the count, as many casualties cannot reach hospitals.
