The stock market is sluggish… The annual salary of a securities company employee is 200 million won

The average annual salary of employees at many domestic securities firms has entered the 200 million won range. As brokerage firms set record-breaking performance, performance pay increased and the amount of remuneration received by employees increased. According to the 2021 business report published by each company on the 27th, securities companies with an average salary of 200 million won or more per employee last year were BNK Investment & Securities, Bukuk Securities, Hanyang Securities, and Meritz Securities. The average salary per person is the total annual salary divided by the number of employees (excluding registered executives). The total salary includes salaries, bonuses, performance pay, and welfare benefits.

According to the business report, Bukuk Securities (26.42 million won) was the only securities company with an average remuneration of 200 million won in 2020, but the number increased to four last year. Last year, the average salary per person at BNK Investment & Securities was 266 million won, the highest in the securities market. This is an increase of 112 million won (72.7%) in one year from 154 million won in 2020. The average salary of 161 male workers in the company’s sales, operation, and research divisions reached 467 million won. On the other hand, the average salary of 59 female workers in the headquarters support and retail sectors was 76 million won, showing a difference in salaries by job group and gender.

Bukuk Securities ranked second in the annual salary of securities firms with an average salary of 24.69 million won per person. It was followed by Hanyang Securities with 225 million won and Meritz Securities with 24.92 million won, ranking third and fourth. Daol Investment & Securities and eBest Investment & Securities each recorded 199 million won, close to 200 million won.

Samsung Securities 168 million won, NH Investment & Securities 158 million won, KB Securities 156 million won, Korea Investment & Securities 154.75 million won, Mirae Asset Securities 144 million won.

So far, among the 25 domestic securities companies that have published their business reports last year, only two small companies, Yuhwa Securities and Sangsangin Securities, have an average salary of less than 100 million won. One after another, employees of securities firms who received billions of won in remuneration according to individual performance came out. Last year, Kang Jung-gu, a branch manager of Samsung Securities, received 6.855 billion won and became the “emperor of salary” in the stock market. He received 6.73 billion won as a bonus and 78 million won as a salary. His salary last year is about three times the 2.12 billion won received by the CEO of Samsung Securities. BNK Investment & Securities’ executive director Im Ik-seong (6.18 billion won) and Kim Nam-won director Daewoo (6.098 billion won) also received more than 6 billion won in remuneration.
