The Supreme Prosecutors’ Office has launched a fact-finding investigation into the suspicion of ‘wolseong nuclear power plant accusation’.

The Supreme Prosecutor’s Inspection Department received an official document and materials from the Ministry of Justice to investigate the allegation of the Wolseong nuclear power plant accusation yesterday.

Earlier, Rep. Kim Yong-min of the Democratic Party of Korea raised suspicions that the prosecution instigated the accusation related to the Wolsong nuclear power plant at the National Assembly Judiciary Committee audit on the 5th.

On October 20, last year, the Board of Audit and Inspection announced the results of the audit related to the alleged manipulation of the economic evaluation of Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1, and two days later, sent reference materials for the investigation to the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office on the 22nd. It was found that 12 people including Baek Un-gyu, the former Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, were charged.

Members of the ruling party including Rep. Kim Yong-min raised suspicions that the complaint was made during a state audit last year, and that the complaint could be written in two days because of the involvement of the prosecution.

Minister of Justice Park Beom-gye also said in a comprehensive audit by the National Assembly Judiciary Committee on the 21st, “The key is whether the Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 is a ‘indictment’.

If the complaint was not received by the Daejeon District Prosecutor’s Office, the data should have gone to the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office, where the related investigation is ongoing, but to prevent this, someone in the prosecution may have ordered the submission of the complaint to the opposition party.

The Supreme Prosecutor’s Inspection Department plans to reconstruct the decision-making process and work order at the time of the incident based on internal approval records to find out whether there was any intervention.
