One of the accounts attributed to a Brazilian journalist on the social media platform “X” claimed that the Brazilian player Dani Alves, the former Spanish Barcelona star, committed suicide inside the prison in which he is currently being held due to being accused of rape.

One of the accounts attributed to a person named Pablo Albuquerque, who claims to be a journalist with the Brazilian newspaper Globo, wrote: “According to the information I received, Dani Alves committed suicide inside prison,” without revealing any other details.

The rumor of Dani Alves’ suicide came to the forefront of various social media outlets in the last hours, before other Brazilian accounts denied the validity of this news until now.

For its part, the Portuguese newspaper “Record” reported that there is still no official confirmation to support this information, which has raised a large wave of doubts about the truth of the Brazilian right-back’s suicide.

The newspaper added that no official statement was issued by the concerned authorities or those close to Dani Alves confirming or denying these rumours. Therefore, official confirmation is awaited to clarify the situation and put an end to the state of uncertainty raised by this news on social media networks.

The Barcelona District Court recently sentenced Brazilian star Dani Alves, the former Barcelona player, to 4 and a half years in prison and a fine on charges of sexually assaulting a girl in a nightclub in Barcelona last year.

According to what was published by the Catalan newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”, after more than 10 days of waiting, the final ruling was announced by the Barcelona District Court imprisoning the Brazilian star Dani Alves for 4 years and 6 months with financial compensation amounting to 150 thousand euros, after committing the crime of sexual assault. She added that the court found in Article 21 that it was proven that the victim did not consent, and that there were elements of evidence, in addition to the complainant’s testimony, to understand the rape as proven, and for this reason, Dani Alves was imposed a prison sentence of 4 years and six months.
