Irish drama series The Walsh Sisters
is heading to American screens after Roku subscription service Howdy acquired exclusive United States streaming rights. Based on Marian Keyes’ bestselling novels, the first episode will premiere on 5 November, with new episodes released weekly.
Production Details and Second Series Plans
The licensing agreement also covers a second series, which is currently in production and expected to launch in the United States in 2027, around the time of its Irish and UK release. The upcoming six-part second series draws inspiration from Keyes’ novels The Mystery of Mercy Close
and Angels,
following the sisters as they face new challenges in their personal and family lives.
Stefanie Preissner returns as creative lead and writer for the upcoming episodes. New cast members joining the production include Peter Coonan, Aislín McGuckin, Art Campion, and Fay Ripley.

Cast and Creative Team
Adapted for television by Preissner, the narrative follows five Dublin sisters as they navigate relationships, addiction, heartbreak, and the complicated bonds of family life. Louisa Harland portrays Anna, Caroline Menton plays Rachel, Danielle Galligan appears as Claire, Máiréad Tyers takes on the role of Helen, and Preissner acts as Maggie, with the cast rounding out as Aidan Quinn and Carrie Crowley play the sisters’ parents.
Robin Chacko, vice-president of Howdy, described the programme as a premium drama with real heart and humor
that had already resonated with audiences and fans of Keyes’ novels.
Cuba Pictures and Metropolitan Pictures produce the drama for RTÉ, partnering with the BBC and Screen Ireland, while international distribution is managed by Cineflix Rights. The series won the Audience Choice Award at the 2026 RTS Ireland Awards.
