Rebel Wilson has won a lawsuit brought against her by the producers of her film The Deb, securing 359,000 Australian dollars (approximately 220,000 euros) plus interest after a judge in New South Wales dismissed the producers’ claims. The dispute centers on social media statements made by the Australian actress in 2024 concerning the production of her film.
Under the Friday ruling by the judge in the Australian state of New South Wales, the greater part of the claims brought by producers Amanda Ghost, Gregor Cameron, and Vince Holden was rejected. While Wilson was awarded 359,000 Australian dollars plus interest on her counter-claim, she is required to pay her former business partners a symbolic damages amount of 10 Australian dollars, which is approximately 6 euros.
Social Media Accusations and Legal Claims
The conflict originated from posts Rebel Wilson published on social media in 2024. In those messages, the actress accused the producers of inappropriate behavior and financial misconduct surrounding the production of The Deb. The producers argued that these statements inflicted reputational and financial damage upon their company.

Wilson did not deny posting the statements, but she contested the allegation that she deliberately intended to harm their business. Alongside defending against the defamation suit, Wilson filed her own counter-claim, which ultimately led to the favorable judgment from the New South Wales court.
Reactions and Previous Court Battles
Following the court’s decision, Wilson celebrated the outcome on social media. Twee rechtszaken. Twee overwinningen
she wrote on Instagram.
This legal victory marks the second time this year that the actress has prevailed in a defamation matter. Earlier this year, Wilson also won a defamation case brought against her by actress Charlotte MacInnes, though an appeal has been filed against that previous ruling.
