The World Karate Championship will be held in Dubai from November 16

Dubai: The championship of 3,000 karate competitors from around 100 countries, including world karate champions, will kick off on November 16 at the Dubai Hamdan Sports Complex, Dubai Sports Council Secretary General Syed Harib told a news conference.

There will be separate competitions for boys and girls. The competition items will be Katta, Kumite and Tea Katta. The judges will be those who have special expertise in karate and are globally qualified in judging by the Karate Federation. Athletes from the Tokyo Olympics will also compete in the World Karate Championship. Record viewers are expected this time. More than 1,200 officials will also attend. This is the 25th edition of the World Karate Championship. Dubai will host the World Championships after karate makes its debut at the Tokyo Olympics.

Syed Harib said he was delighted that Dubai had the opportunity to host such a world championship in the context of the Expo 2020 taking place in Dubai. It is doubly sweet to Dubai, where citizens from more than 200 countries live happily. The matches will be played in eight stages. Dubai is hosting the World Karate Championship for the first time in the Middle East. The competition, organized by the UAE Karate Federation and the Dubai Sports Council, will draw thousands of spectators from around the world. Trainees from around 100 countries, including India, China, Japan and the United States, will compete.

The inauguration ceremony will be attended by various national leaders. The winners will be presented with trophies and cash awards at the closing ceremony on November 21. Maj. Gen. Nasser Abdul Razzaq Al Razouki, President of the Asian Karate Federation and Vice President of the World Karate Federation, said: He welcomed all sports lovers to this championship.

General Sports Authority Assistant Secretary General Khalid Almidfa, UAE Karate Federation Director Captain Mohammad Abbas and Assistant Secretary General Humaid Shamish Mohammad also attended the press conference at the Dubai Sports Council headquarters in the Design District. Since its inception 11 years ago, the Hamdan Sports Complex has hosted 95 top world events. The Hamdan Sports Complex was also the venue for the 2013 Asian Karate Championships.
