In Pakistan, the trend of keeping exotic animals, including tigers, as pets has become increasingly popular, especially among wealthy individuals. However, this practice raises serious concerns about animal welfare, public safety, and conservation.
Despite Pakistan’s Wildlife Protection Act prohibiting private ownership of exotic animals, enforcement remains lax, allowing the illegal trade to flourish.
A recent incident involving a Pakistani content creator sparked outrage on Instagram, as reported by NDTV. The content creator, Haasan, shared a video clip showing a surprising encounter with a chained tiger, which many followers felt was reckless and irresponsible.
In the video clip, Haasan is seen putting his hand in the tiger’s mouth in an attempt to show their relationship. However, the tiger’s continued condition has raised concerns that it may be drugged or restrained, which would be unacceptable treatment for a wild animal.
The caption of the post read, ”My rock leopard is so friendly.” However, the incident sparked outrage among viewers who criticized Haasan’s actions, describing them as irresponsible and potentially harmful to humans and animals.
Many have questioned the treatment and living conditions of the tigers, raised concerns about the exploitation of the animals, and stressed the need for stricter laws to protect wildlife from exploitation.
Viewers expressed their concerns, with one user writing, “There’s no need to do this to get a few followers.” Another commented, “That’s what I call stupidity to the extreme.”
