TikTok Star Fabiola Caicedo Found Dismembered in Peru
The body of fabiola Alejandra Caicedo piña, a 19-year-old TikTok star, was discovered dismembered near a water treatment plant in Lima, Peru, earlier this month. workers at the La Atarjea plant found her remains during a routine inspection on June 9, according to InfoBae.
Caicedo, who last posted on TikTok on June 5, was identified by distinctive tattoos, including one on her arm that read, “Love me for who I am,” and another on her torso with the words “Paula Sophia.” Additional remains were found on June 15, but some body parts are still missing, authorities said.
Police suspect Caicedo was strangled before being dismembered. Investigators are exploring two possible motives for the gruesome murder. One theory is that Caicedo was a victim of human trafficking, as several young women have recently been found dead in the Lima area. Another theory suggests the TikTok star may have been killed in retaliation for the 2022 death of her ex-boyfriend, Mayner Yoffrey Giménez Castrillo.
Caicedo and Castrillo,who was 21 years her senior,moved to Lima from Venezuela in 2022. Following Castrillo’s death months later, his family accused Caicedo of involvement, alleging she conspired with a new partner to kill him. While police initially suspected Castrillo was beaten to death, they now believe it may have been a suicide. The case remains open.
Caicedo was never formally investigated in connection with Castrillo’s death and continued working at nightclubs and bars. Police believe she was lured away from a party the night before her death,possibly under false pretenses. Cigarette burns on her body suggest she may have been tortured.
Her remains are believed to have been dumped in the Rímac River, eventually ending up at the water treatment plant. Detectives are reviewing security footage and interviewing acquaintances. As of now, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been identified in Caicedo’s murder.
