The Maryland Department of Transportation is expecting a surge in traffic heading to the East Coast during the Labor Day weekend, resulting in significant traffic congestion in both directions on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge (pictured).
Authorities said, “We expect more than 350,000 vehicles to travel over four days from Friday the 30th to Monday, September 2nd,” and “We will implement two-way operation on an hourly basis to alleviate traffic congestion.”
According to authorities, heavy traffic is expected on eastbound US 50 on Thursday, the 29th and Friday, the 30th, in both directions east and west on Saturday, September 31st to September 1st, and on westbound on Monday, September 2nd and Tuesday, September 3rd.

Before 10:00 AM and after 9:00 PM on Friday the 30th
Before 9:00 AM and after 6:00 PM on Saturday the 31st
Before 11:00 AM and after 6:00 PM on Sunday, September 1st
