Todd Boehly Leads Consortium to Buy Chelsea FC – WSJ

Late Friday, a consortium led by Todd Boehly, part-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, struck a deal to buy nearly 4.3 billion pounds ($5.2 billion) from Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich. ) to buy Chelsea Football Club, marking a record sale price for a professional sports team.

Chelsea said in a statement that the deal is expected to close later this month if it receives regulatory approval. The previous auction process, which lasted about two months, attracted a number of high-profile bidders from the United States looking to acquire the well-known sports brand.
