Usually family meals are a real meeting of conviviality and delight, especially in African homes where solidarity and sharing are sacred values. The atmosphere becomes even more festive when each member at the table decides to make it a rather special moment.
But, all family meals are not necessarily a moment of joy for some. The case of the X family, which resides in a district of Lomé (whose name we voluntarily withhold) is causing a stir and prompting an avalanche of comments.
For what is supposed to be a family dinner, a mother and her children have experienced a most unusual evening, almost a drama. At first, everything was going as planned until the eldest named Hubert and the youngest of the Pascal family were fighting over a piece of meat. Naturally, the father ordered the eldest to give the meat to his brother.
This one aged about twenty years, of a taciturn nature, according to the information, decided to ignore the injunction of his father by making a bite of the piece of meat. The father, taken by anger, stuck a slap to Hubert who, known for his pangs towards his parent, did not hesitate to return the favor to him.
But that was counting without the pride of the head of the family who bit his son in front of his brothers and his own wife. A gesture that quite scandalized the mother, the children as well as the entourage.
“The father, for reasons unknown until then, preferred to bite his eldest in the neck, like a vampire who wanted to drink the blood of his victim,” described a neighbor.
This situation also revives the debate on the education of children, the basis of a peaceful society.
