Tokyo Game Show 2024: A Resurgent Event and a glimpse into PlayStation’s Future
Return to Form for Japan’s Premier Gaming Trade Fair
Tokyo Game Show (TGS) has returned with meaningful momentum, establishing itself once again as Japan’s leading gaming trade fair. The 2024 event, held September 25-27 at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba, showcases a substantial increase in both exhibitors and booths compared to previous years.
This year’s TGS features 1,136 companies, with 615 originating from outside Japan, demonstrating its growing international appeal. The exhibition floor boasts 4,157 booths, a considerable jump from the 3,252 present in 2023.
PlayStation’s Strong Presence and the Anticipation for Ghost of Yotei
After a five-year absence, PlayStation has made a prominent return to TGS, unveiling a futuristic booth and offering demos for 14 playable titles. The centerpiece of PlayStation’s showcase is Ghost of Yotei,a standalone sequel to the critically acclaimed 2020 samurai adventure,Ghost of Tsushima.
The Ghost of Yotei demo area is the largest at the Sony booth, signaling the company’s confidence in the title and the high level of anticipation from fans. The game is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5 in October 2025.
