Tom Cruise has added another extraordinary feat to his resume: a Guinness World Record for the most burning parachute jumps performed by an individual. The stunt, executed for “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” involved Cruise leaping from a helicopter and deploying a parachute that was then set ablaze.
According to Guinness World Records,Cruise had to jump from at least 7,500 feet. The flaming parachute, pre-soaked in fuel, burned for approximately three seconds, after which Cruise had to detach it and deploy a backup. On some takes, he also held a 50-pound camera rig.
Cruise completed the fiery stunt a total of 16 times,securing his place in the record books. He received the title June 4.
