Italy Secures 3-1 Victory Over France in UEFA Nations League
Italy emerged victorious in their highly anticipated match against France in the 2024-25 UEFA Nations League, securing a 3-1 win at the Parc des Princes in Paris.
The match, considered one of the biggest clashes of the first leg, saw France take an early lead. However, Italy managed to equalize in the first half, thanks to a goal from Federico DiMarco, assisted by Sandro Tonali.
The second half belonged to Italy, with Davide Fratesi scoring the go-ahead goal in the 5th minute, followed by a decisive strike from Giacomo Laspadori in the 28th minute. The Italian team’s dominant performance sealed their 3-1 victory.
Tonali, who had been suspended for 10 months due to illegal gambling, made a remarkable return to the national team. He played the full game, providing an assist and showcasing a stable performance. This marked his first attacking point in 391 days, since the opening match of the 2023-24 Premier League season against Aston Villa.
Tonali’s impressive performance was reflected in his statistics and ratings. According to Sofascore, he recorded one assist, two key passes, and a long pass success rate of 67%. He also created one decisive chance, won 70% of his ground duels, and made three tackles. Sofascore gave him a score of 7.5, the second-highest among both teams. Footmob also acknowledged his performance with a score of 7.9.
Coach Luciano Spalletti praised Tonali’s performance, saying, “Tonali did a great job. I was worried that he wouldn’t be able to play the full game, but he created several crucial chances and almost scored. We brought back a great player.”
