According to second-hand trading app Lightning Market, the total transaction amount of the top goods category traded on Lightning Market in 2023 was more than 70 billion won, up about 20% from 2022. In the same period the number of transactions grew by approximately 15%.
The most traded top items were fantasy/photo postcards, accounting for 61%, more than half of the total transaction volume. Also appearing: ▲dolls/figures (19%) ▲albums/videos (7%) ▲posters/images (5%) ▲cheering tools (3%) ▲clothing/fashion accessories (3%) ▲others (2%) .
Among the new idols, the progress of the male group that debuted last year was notable. New major male talents such as “Zero Base One”, which debuted through Mnet’s survival audition program “Boys Planet”, “Rise”, which was released by SM Entertainment for the first time in 7 years, and “Boy Next Door” by Hive, of which rapper Zico served as general manager, the groups in turn recorded the highest transaction amounts and volumes.
In the case of Zero Base One, whose fandom had already formed during the audition program, the search volume exceeded 350,000 in approximately 3 months from the announcement of the rookie member until the official debut in July. From the debut of Zero Base One until the end of last year, the transaction amount related to stellar goods exceeded 1.3 billion won. The number of transactions exceeded 70,000, accounting for more than 10% of the total transaction volume of the kids category in the Lightning Market over the same period. Rise and Boynextdoor were also found to increase the amount and number of transactions by up to 300% when comparing data from the month immediately following their debut to December of last year.
