Tottenham Eyes PSV Star Johan Bakayoko as Potential Striker Signing

Tottenham Eyes PSV Forward Johan Bakayoko as Potential Son Heung-min Replacement

It seems that Tottenham Hotspur is on the lookout for a potential replacement for their star forward Son Heung-min. According to reports, the club is currently monitoring PSV Eindhoven’s Johan Bakayoko, a talented wing forward born in 2003.

Praise from Former Tottenham Defender Alan Hutton

Former Tottenham defender Alan Hutton recently praised Bakayoko, expressing confidence that the young forward could significantly improve the team under coach Enzi Postekoglou. Hutton suggested that bringing in a striker like Ivan Toni from Brentford could take the team to the next level, providing more options for the versatile Son Heung-min.

Potential Talent and Contract Details

Bakayoko, touted as a potential candidate for Tottenham, has made a name for himself in the Dutch Eredivisie, showcasing his skills in both goal scoring and assisting. With his contract set to expire in the summer of 2026, Bakayoko’s market value is estimated to be around 25 million euros, according to Transfermarkt.

Desperate Need for Reinforcements

Tottenham’s interest in Bakayoko is fueled by the team’s urgent need for additional reinforcements in the January transfer market. With several players sidelined due to injuries and Son Heung-min’s anticipated absence for the Asian Cup, recruiting a striker has become a top priority for the club.

Overall, Bakayoko’s potential signing could prove to be a significant boost for Tottenham as they look to strengthen their squad and compete against their rivals in the league.

Will Tottenham bring in a striker who can ease the burden on Son Heung-min? Tottenham are currently watching wing forward Johan Bakayoko (PSV Eindhoven), born in 2003.

British media outlet Football Insider reported on the 10th (Korea time), “Former Tottenham defender Alan Hutton praised Bakayoko and was confident he would improve coach Enzi Postekoglou’s team.”

“I think Tottenham can take the next step if they bring in a striker like Ivan Toni (Brentford),” said Hutton. “Son Heung-min has done a great job, but he can play in other positions as well. “If a central striker comes in, (Son Heung-min) will be able to provide more options,” he said.

Bakayoko, who is mentioned as a candidate for Tottenham, is a rookie from Belgium. He appeared in 15 Dutch Eredivisie games this season, scoring 3 goals and providing 8 assists. He also appeared in 5 matches in the UEFA Champions League (UCL), scoring 1 goal and 1 assist.

Bakayoko, who has already made his debut with the Belgian national football team, is evaluated as a striker with excellent abilities in various areas such as dribbling, ball keeping and finishing.

“I saw Bakayoko play for PSV against Rangers and I thought he was amazing,” said Hutton. “He is a very difficult player, he has speed, power and can score goals, so Tottenham opened the door. “It will not be closed,” he said.

All in all, it was expected to be a good signing for Tottenham, who have a thinner squad than their rivals. Hutton predicted, “If we get a chance to recruit a player of that level, we can become a better team,” and “(PSV) will never turn him down if the transfer fee is right.”

Bakayoko’s contract with PSV expires in the summer of 2026. According to Transfermarkt, a football transfer website, Bakayoko’s market value is estimated at 25 million euros (35.5 billion won).

Tottenham are in desperate need of additional reinforcements in the January transfer market. Recently, several players left due to injuries and were pushed out of the race for the lead. To make matters worse, Son Heung-min is expected to be absent in January to take part in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup. This is the background for Tottenham to consider recruiting a striker.
