The weekend regular league game of Tottenham Hotspur, an English professional football club, was eventually postponed due to a cluster infection of the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) within the squad.

The English Premier League (EPL) Secretariat announced on the 10th (Korean time) that “the board of directors has decided to postpone the weekend match between Tottenham and Brighton and Hove Albion.”

Tottenham Hotspur had an away match against Brighton in the EPL round 16 of the 2021-22 season at 11 pm on the 12th. However, Tottenham Hotspur, who had difficulty in forming players due to the COVID-19 infection in the squad, requested a postponement of the Brighton match, and the EPL Secretariat accepted it.

Earlier, Tottenham postponed the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage match against Rennes (France) the day before. The first military training facility is also closed. “Eight players and five staff members have tested positive for COVID-19,” coach Antonio Conte said at a press conference ahead of Ren’s match. Afterwards, it was reported that additional confirmed cases were reported within Tottenham.

The club did not disclose the identity of the confirmed patient. However, the British media Football Insider reported that Heung-Min Son, Emerson Royal, Brian Hill, Lucas Moura, Ben Davis, and Christian Romero have been confirmed with Corona 19. Locals predict that there is a high possibility that the match against Leicester City on the 17th is also likely to be postponed.
