Tragedy as Family Dies Following Pony and Trap Crash Near Tonbridge

A young mother has died in the United Kingdom, one week after a collision between a tipper truck and a pony and trap that killed her husband and three-year-old daughter.

The incident occurred on April 1, 2026, just before 18:30 BST on the A228 Boyle Way near East Peckham, close to Tonbridge in Kent. According to Kent Police, a white DAF tipper truck was traveling southbound between the junctions of Bandridges Road and Hale Street when it collided with the pony and trap, which was traveling in the same direction.

Francie Connors, a man in his 30s, died at the scene of the crash. The pony pulling the carriage also died at the location.

His three-year-old daughter, Ka Connors, and his wife, Rita, were both transported to the hospital. Ka Connors was later confirmed dead.

Rita was admitted to the hospital in critical condition and required brain surgery. According to reports from the Sunday World, she died a week after the collision.

Investigation and Arrest

A 29-year-old man from Kent, who was driving the tipper truck, was arrested in connection with the incident and taken into police custody.

Kent Police launched an investigation into the crash and issued an appeal for witnesses or individuals who may have seen the truck or the pony and trap prior to the collision to contact authorities.

Paddy Doherty, a Celebrity Big Brother winner and extended family member, led tributes to the deceased. He described the event as a travesty and detailed the circumstances where the family was driving their cart on a road when they were struck by a juggernaut.
