A large-scale shooting occurred in Birmingham, Alabama, around 11 p.m. on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of four people and injuring 18 others. According to the police, multiple gunmen opened fire on the crowd, and the preliminary investigation suggests that the case may be a “hired murder.”
The shooting took place outside a hookah and cigar shop in the city’s Five Points South neighborhood, a popular entertainment area, just before 11 p.m. on Saturday. Local police arrived at the scene shortly after 11 a.m. and found two adult males and one adult female unresponsive on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds. Medical personnel pronounced them dead at the scene. A fourth victim was later pronounced dead at nearby UAB Hospital.
According to witnesses, a car stopped at the scene, and several people got out of the car, opened fire, and then returned to the car and fled the scene. Police have not yet released the suspect’s identity, but preliminary investigations showed that the gunman was targeting a specific person.
