Man Chasing Dog at Hyderabad Hotel Falls to Death
Incident Details
A 23-year-old guest died after falling from a third-floor window at a hotel in India. The man was chasing a dog he found in a hotel hallway when the dog went straight ahead and threw himself into an open window.
At around 12:30 a.m. local time on the 21st at the VV Pride Hotel in the Hyderabad district of Telangana state in south-central India, a guest, Uday Kumar (23), died after falling from a third-floor window.
Uday was in Telangana state on a trip with his family and was staying in Ashok Nagar, but he had booked the VV Pride Hotel separately from his family to celebrate a friend’s birthday. That day, Uday saw the dog in the third-floor hallway of the hotel and approached it.
However, the dog became alarmed and started running, trying to escape from Mr. Uday. Uday ran after the dog, but it ran so fast that he could not stop at the end of the hallway and fell out of the open window.
The incident was recorded on the hotel’s surveillance camera, which showed Uday’s friend peering out the window and rushing downstairs to get help. Friends rushed Uday to the hospital, but unfortunately he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police subsequently launched an investigation and Uday’s body was taken to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem. It is currently unclear why the dog was on the third floor of the hotel, and police are examining security camera footage from around the hotel.
A similar accident to Uday’s accident due to carelessness occurred on the 13th of this month in Washington state. A 4-year-old girl who was jumping on the bed in a fifth-floor apartment lost her balance and fell from an open window, where she was taken to a hospital where she died.
