Family Issues Suspected as Motive for the Tragic Suicide

In a shocking turn of events, DIG Vijayakumar, a respected police official from Chennai Coimbatore, has taken his own life. The police department has revealed that family problems may have driven the officer to this drastic step. Tragically, Vijayakumar used his own service revolver to end his life.

The incident occurred early in the morning at the racecourse camp office, around 6:50 am. Prior to the incident, Vijayakumar had gone for a walk, arriving at the office at approximately 6:45 am. As he stepped out of the office, he asked his personal security officer to hand over his pistol and swiftly took his own life.

Upon discovering the gruesome scene, fellow officers at the camp office immediately informed senior officials and an investigation has since been launched. Confidential sources have shared that Vijayakumar had confided in colleagues about experiencing sleep deprivation and feelings of depression for several weeks prior to the tragic event. However, the exact trigger for the suicide remains unclear at this time. The body has been transferred to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for a thorough post-mortem examination.

Having joined the police force in 2009, Vijayakumar served as an exemplary IPS officer. He held various key positions, including SP in Kancheepuram, Cuddalore, Nagapatnam, and Tiruvarur, before assuming the role of Coimbatore DIG in January of last year.

Chennai Coimbatore DIG Vijayakumar committed suicide by shooting himself. The police concluded that family problems were responsible for the suicide. He committed suicide by using a service revolver.

The incident happened at the racecourse camp office at around 6.50am today. Vijayakumar, who went for a walk in the morning, reached the camp office around 6.45. The personal security officer was asked to hand over his pistol and Vijayakumar shot himself as he came out of the office.

Other policemen on duty at the camp office then reached the spot and informed the senior officers. According to close sources, Vijayakumar told his colleagues that he had not been able to sleep properly for several weeks and was depressed. But the cause of the suicide is not clear yet The dead body has been shifted to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. The police have started an investigation into the incident.

Vijayakumar, an IPS officer, joined the service in 2009. Worked as SP in Kancheepuram, Cuddalore, Nagapatnam and Tiruvarur. He took charge as Coimbatore DIG last January.
