A free playable demo for Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is available now across PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, according to announcements from publisher GungHo Online Entertainment America and developer Nihon Falcom. The release lets players experience the story up through Chapter 1 ahead of the game’s September 17, 2026 worldwide launch.
Platforms, Save Data Transfers, and Editions
The demo is live on PlayStation 5, Steam, and Nintendo Switch. While Nintendo Switch 2 Edition cross-generation game demos always target Switch 1 hardware, the software remains fully playable on Nintendo Switch 2 via backward compatibility, as confirmed by GungHo Online Entertainment America. Players can carry all save data accumulated during the demo over to the full version when it launches.
Alongside the demo release, GungHo Online Entertainment America detailed retail pricing and digital options for the upcoming launch. Standard physical editions carry a price tag of $59.99 for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, while the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is priced at $64.99 at North American retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, and Walmart. Owners of the standard Nintendo Switch version can also purchase a $4.99 Upgrade Pack to reach the Switch 2 specification.
For digital and bundled purchases, a separate Season Pass covering cosmetic downloadable content will cost $24.99 across Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Steam. A Digital Deluxe edition pairing the base game and the Season Pass is scheduled for $79.99 across those same platforms.
