Transitioning to the Isegahama Stable: A Look at the Environment and Training Situation

[Ichiro Sumo〈18〉]Mototeruyoshi responded to Master Miyagino’s call What is the environment in the Isegahama stable?

It has been decided that the sumo masters and wrestlers of the Miyagino stable will be transferred to the Isegahama stable.

Will the fighters be able to adapt to the new environment? Many fans are worried.

We asked Shōki Fukuoka (29), a former member of Teruyoshi Makuuchi who was a member of Isegahama Stable until his retirement in March, about his living environment and training situation. After deciding to transfer, he received a phone call from Master Miyagino (former Yokozuna Hakuho) who asked him about the situation at the Isegahama stable.

Due to the violence issue at the former makuuchi Kitaseihō, wrestlers from the Miyagino stable will be transferred to the Isegahama stable from April indefinitely.

Because the punishment was so severe, sumo fans endlessly debated the pros and cons of the punishment.

If we look only at the transfer, it can be said that this is an extremely harsh punishment for the fighter from the Miyagino stable. It will be very stressful for him, but I hope that he will soon be able to concentrate on sumo.

What kind of environment is the Isegahama stable? While there are already 22 fighters on the roster, 19 new fighters will be accepted. Can you enter the room?

At the moment, Sekitori Shu and his assistants are not in the room as they are on their spring tour. It will be after the summer rankings are announced on April 30 that all members will live together and start training in earnest.

Until then, the fighters remaining in the room will begin training in a new environment.

Even the former Teruyoshi Fukuoka is considering a suicide attempt by Master Miyagino, with whom he was a close friend.

“Even though he’s a great yokozuna, he’s thoughtful and kind to everyone. He took care of us since we were active. We went golfing together, he took us out to dinner…”

The other day I received a phone call from Master Miyagino, who told me the following story.
