Trump defeats Nikki Haley in South Carolina primary

Donald Trump defeated his last Republican rival, Nikki Haley, in the South Carolina primary this Saturday, according to projections from several American media outlets.

A tremendous setback for Haley, who embodies a more moderate wing of the Republican Party, since it occurs in the state of which she was governor for six years.

“They are going to respect our country again like never before. It is a fantastic night (…) the big day is coming in Michigan and we are doing well,” he said in a message to his militancy.

“My last and absolute revenge”
Both Trump and Biden have already begun looking ahead to November, with the president characterizing Trump as a mortal threat to the republic.

Before flying to South Carolina to view the results on Saturday, Trump addressed a gathering of conservative activists near Washington in a 90-minute speech in which he painted a dark picture of a country in decline under Biden.

He said that if he defeats Biden in the November 5 general election it will represent a “day of reckoning” for the United States, and “my last and absolute revenge.”
