Washington D.C. – Former President Donald Trump has called for the immediate unsealing of grand jury testimony related to Jeffrey EpsteinS sex trafficking case,a move that has ignited controversy and fueled accusations of a cover-up among his most ardent supporters. The demand comes as Trump faces scrutiny over an alleged “risque” letter he purportedly wrote to Epstein, a detail published by The Wall Street Journal.
Trump’s Demand and Bondi’s Response
In a late Thursday statement on his Truth Social platform, Trump asserted that the ongoing publicity surrounding Epstein’s crimes was a “SCAM perpetuated by the Democrats” and demanded that Attorney General Pam Bondi produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, contingent on court approval.
“This SCAM, perpetuated by the Democrats, should end, right now!” Trump declared.
Shortly after trump’s public statement, Attorney General Bondi announced via social media that the Justice Department was prepared to petition the court on Friday to unseal the grand jury transcripts. “President Trump – we are ready to move the court tomorrow to unseal the grand jury transcripts,” Bondi stated.
The “Risque” Letter and Legal Threats
This latest development follows a heated exchange between Trump and The Wall Street Journal. The newspaper reported on an alleged letter, purportedly signed by Trump, which it described as featuring a drawing of a naked woman with typewritten text and Trump’s signature positioned to mimic pubic hair. The letter, reportedly part of a collection assembled for Epstein’s 50th birthday in 2003, concluded with the message, “Happy Birthday – and may every day be another marvelous secret.”
Trump vehemently denied the letter’s authenticity, calling it a “FAKE” and a “false, malicious, and defamatory story.” He further announced his intention to sue The Wall Street Journal, NewsCorp, and Rupert Murdoch for their reporting.
“The Editor of The Wall Street Journal… was told directly by [White House Press Secretary] Karoline Leavitt, and by President Trump, that the letter was a FAKE,” Trump wrote. “instead, they are going with a false, malicious, and defamatory story anyway.” He added,”President Trump will be suing The wall Street Journal, newscorp, and Mr. [Rupert] Murdoch, shortly. The Press has to learn to be truthful, and not rely on sources that probably don’t even exist.”
When contacted by The Wall Street Journal, Trump stated, “This is not me. This is a fake thing. I don’t draw pictures of women. It’s not my language. It’s not my words.” The newspaper confirmed it had reviewed the letter but did not publish an image.
Epstein’s Downfall and Conspiracy Theories
Jeffrey Epstein,a financier with ties to numerous wealthy and powerful individuals, including Trump, took his own life in a New York prison in 2019 during trump’s first term. He had been charged with sex trafficking, accused of grooming young and underage women for sexual abuse by influential figures.
the Epstein scandal has long been a focal point for the Trump-supporting far-right. Many in this demographic have advanced theories suggesting the existence of a secret list of Epstein’s powerful clients and that the financier was murdered in his cell as part of a purposeful cover-up. Trump’s governance’s handling of the Epstein case, notably any potential involvement of former associates, has been a recurring theme in thes discussions.
The demand to unseal grand jury testimony and the controversy surrounding the alleged letter are expected to further intensify scrutiny on the Epstein case and its connections to prominent figures.
